Does anyone know what the Arts and Entertainment are like in Russia and the Caucasus?
Q. I have to do a report on Russia, Georgia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan and what kind of Arts and Entertainment they have there.
Asked by abby - Sun Sep 7 19:54:53 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Big cities in Russia (such as Moscow) are not like the rest of the country in terms of entertainment. Entertainment in Moscow is like entertainment in Western Europe (think France, Italy, UK) Russian rural areas are more like Eastern Europe (think Hungary, Czech Republic) The same is true about Arts that are mostly European in nature, except folk arts that have been influenced by both Europe and Asia. Georgia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan are another story. The cultures of these countries were heavily influenced by Middle Eastern countries (particularly Azerbaijan with majority of its population being Muslim)

Does "Arts and Entertainment" when referring to the name of a newspaper column, need to be in quotations?
Q. I am writting an essay where I refer to the arts and entertainment column of a newspaper, does arts and entertainment need to be in quotations because it is a title? Also, would the title of a standard column in the section go in quotes too? For example, "Mike's Movie Reviews" is a weekly column in the "Arts and Entertainment" section of "The Pioneer Press" OR Mike's Movie Reviews is a weekly column in the arts and entertainment section of "The Pioneer Press" ??
Asked by Allie - Sat Mar 1 22:02:00 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. It depends on which style/format you're using - generally, you would put quotes around the name/headline of an article when referencing it. Newspaper names are typically italicized, and section names would be italicized as well. Check with whatever style you're supposed to be following, but there's a good general guide online here:

Do anyone know anything about the agency "3 Arts Entertainment" and do they have a website?
Q. I know it's a agency that represents actors but they seem not to have too much information about them. 3 Arts Entertainment is a very well established agency. They actually represents very well known talent like Jamie Kennedy and countless other actors that we see on our movie screen, I have their address but I don't have their website address. Yes 3 Arts Entertainment is the real thing but I don't see a website for them. They also don't charge a fee.

A. If there isn't much information about them, it's a bad sign. Stay away. REAL talent agencies do NOT have websites! If they charge a fee, run out of the door! Talent Agencies are not allowed to charge clients a fee for submitting them on projects. Talent Agencies are regulated by the Department of State where you live i.e, Texas, Californian, etc.). You can Googl: Department of State Talent Agency Regulations (whichever state you're in.) or some wording like that, keep playing around with it. Something will come up. Legitimate talent agencies don't often have a "cutsie name."

I want to transition out of business banking and move into something in arts/entertainment. What should I do?
Q. I don't want to go back to school, I'm willing to take a pay cut, and I'm ready to relocate to the west coast. I enjoy the creative process, and have great ideas for films, graphic novels and gaming. How do you get into these things without school? What city is best for these goals?
Asked by anonymous - Wed Jul 5 08:41:27 2006 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. A lot depends on where you are now My feeling is if your in a large city you can do some of this on the side right now by checking out production houses and seeing what they might have ( the pay will be low to begin with) or casting offices also check into advancing a production site . Be realalistic about your computer skills ( can you run digital format info for editing) There are a lot of jobs in the industry but there are also a lot of boring jobs in the industry so try to keep a income coming infrom your current job ( or transfer if possible to a larger city) and slowly get your ideas in .

A. For the 1920's of course the flappers and talking movies. Before that silent movies, Vaudeville. Nightclubs were huge. Radio had drama, serials, comedies. Are you just talking the US? There were alot of arts going on in Europe during that time. Just google 1920s (or whenever) entertainment. Or arts. I am a history teacher and that is what I do. It works better than the history websites which are too specific. If you need photos Yahoo! Images is great.

Is Music paired with Entertainment instead of Arts because the medium has been misunderstood?
Q. Music is an art form. It is a language of sound used to convey ideas in a way that great minds have said is the most direct method of projecting the subjective. Shouldn't Music should be moved to the Arts and Humanities or is it because the popular use of music is nothing more than foot-tapping entertainment, however unhealthy?
Asked by Sorrowful W - Mon Mar 26 09:09:08 2007 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. I think it's because of the type of music discussed in this area. Most of the "questions" are related to current/recent pop literature... not the classics. I have found a lot of classical music/music pedagogy questions in the Arts and Humanites, Performing Arts category. It sucks I know, but not everyone has a sophisticated ear such as you and I.

Which of these ten US cities is, in your opinion, the most sophisticated city (i.e. arts and entertainment)?
Q. If you d like, you can rate each city on a scale from 1 to 10. Here are the cities (in alphabetical order): Atlanta Boston Chicago Los Angeles Miami New Orleans New York City Philadelphia San Francisco Washington, D.C. Or if you have a city that you think is more sophisticated than these 10 cities, I d love to hear it.
Asked by Brandon - Tue Dec 11 19:45:01 2007 - - 6 Answers - 0 Comments
A. All of these cities are unique in the entertainment and art they are known for. Also, I think that all of these cities are sophisticated in their own way. Sure, no city is perfect, but it's up to the traveler to visit a place and determine if it's a place they love (imperfections and all). With that said, my favorite cities in your list would have to be Atlanta (where I live) NYC, DC, and Boston. I haven t been to the other cities, but I do plan to in the future!

A. Very good question. If film were listed under Arts & Humanities, I would certainly be interested in following the category. But not as Entertainment. I could care less about movie stars and most currently "entertaining" movies. I just scanned that section and found only one question that intrigued me enough that I wanted to respond or to read others' responses. I like the suggestion that Movies be listed under Entertainment and Film under Arts & Humanities -- though I must admit Film as Art or Film Criticism can be as stuffy as Lit Crit. But you've snagged my attention. Now I'm gonna seek out Movies and ask a question: "I consider Citizen Kane the great American movie of the 20th century. What other movies would you list along… [cont.]

Other entertainment includes: - Going to concerts or movies - Watching CFL or NFL games in the fall and winter. - There are many dance clubs and bars across Canada. - Many bars have dart leagues or people play pool. Some of the more interesting things available in my neighbourhood (Montreal) are a laser tag centre, indoor and outdoor paintball, and we used to have a Robotech gaming centre (like the Mechwarrior video games, only you are sealed in a full cockpit with three screens in front of you.)
