In general, a region is a medium-scale area of land or water, smaller than the whole areas of interest (which could be, for example, the world, a nation, a river basin, mountain range, and so on), and larger than a specific site. A region may be seen as a collection of smaller units (as in "the New England states") or as one part of a larger whole (as in "the New England region of the United States"). Regions can be defined by physical characteristics, human characteristics, and functional characteristics. As a way of describing spatial areas, the concept of regions is important and widely used among the many branches of geography, each of which can describe areas in regional terms. For example, ecoregion is a term used in environmental geography, cultural region in cultural geography, bioregion in biogeography, and so on. The field of geography that studies regions themselves is called regional geography. From Wikipedia under the
GNU Free Documentation License What about being a regional pilot? Q. I saw the recent question on becoming a 747 pilot. Frankly, I don't like that sound of driving something THAT immense; it takes a lot of time to do too. Also, the hassle associated with entering another country and their regulations and the long flight time. Now what I am asking is this: What are the requirements of being a regional pilot flying 737ish aircraft in regional airlines like Southwest etc? I am really considering a job in travel and a pilot sounds good. Hows the training? How long? Is it worth it? What about your family life? I would appreciate answers from regional pilots or international alike, although anyone's helpful input would also help. First off, SWA is NOT a regional. Make no mistake, they are a MAJOR U.S. carrier and one of the top paying airlines at that. Any airline that flies 737s can't really be considered a "regional". In all actuality many airlines that are called such are actually majors as they have over a billion in revenue annually (the mark of a major by the D.O.T.). The "regional" airlines like the Express & Connection carriers that feed the majors (even if they are now "majors" in their own right) generally all require: 1. A Commercial pilot certificate with instrument & multi-engine ratings 2. 1,000 hours of flight experience, 100 of… [cont.] Answered by Av8trxx - Tue Jun 12 05:57:59 2007 Is there a time limit for being a regional pilot? You can "retire" at any age but you may not get the full benefits. Answered by Sky_West - Mon May 19 19:22:04 2008 Does anyone know why I have to pay city taxes where I work and Regional Income Tax where I live?
Q. I am paying as much in city and regional taxes as I am in federal. I also own a home and pay property taxes. Shouldn't my city taxes taken out of my checks be transferred to where I pay RITA? It is Ohio, but I've never seen a partial credit. I've been told you don't legally have to pay Regional, but that doesn't sound right. Asked by Gabby - Thu Dec 11 11:25:43 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. Ohio? Local taxes in Ohio are very unique. In effect, you end up paying local taxes where you work AND where you live. Your work is required to withhold taxes based on the work location but your home location only gives you partial credit for those taxes.
